2026 NFL Free Agent Tracker -- DAY 5
Tracking every trade, signing, and rumor around the NFL's best full week of the calendar.
Somehow we’re through four whole days of the NFL’s Free Agency period. There have been some big spenders and some now playing cheap veteran market as well. The Browns have been active along the offensive line and a tight end yesterday. We’re now LIVE for Day 5 so stay tuned!
(7:28PM) The Commanders have re-signed OG Chris Paul to a one-year deal. Paul was thought to be a targets of the Browns but the signing of Zion Johnson and Elgton Jenkins eliminated the pursuit. Paul goes back in a “prove it” scenario with the Commanders.
(7:12PM) The Browns have agreed to terms with defensive tackle Kalia Davis on a one-year deal worth up to $3M. After starting all 17 games for the 49ers last season, Davis heads to Cleveland where he will fill the rotation void left behind by Shelby Harris. Subscribers can read more about Davis’s fit HERE.
(6:06PM) Slot cornerback Roger McCreary has agreed to terms with the Detroit Lions on a one-year deal. This was one I thought would fit the Browns well. McCreary started 38 games for Tennessee before traded to the Rams last season.
(5:40PM) The Falcons have agreed to terms with former Chargers defensive lineman Da’Shawn hand on a one-year, $3M deal.
(5:15PM) The Bills are signing former Bengals S Geno Stone to a one-year deal. Stone has 14 career INTs with 21 PBUs, and will be a key contributor to Buffalo’s defense.
(4:51PM) Former Dolphins free agent safety Elijah Campbell is signing a one-year deal with the New York Giants.
(4:15PM) Veteran tight end Tyler Conklin is headed to the Lions on a one-year deal. After years with the Jets and one with the Chargers he is off to Detroit in their tight end heavy system.
(4:11PM) Rasheed Walker has finally found a new home. He is headed to Carolina to join the Panthers on a one-year deal. We will update the terms when we know more.
UPDATE: 1-year deal worth about $10M.
(3:50PM) Another wide receiver to Washington as they have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with Van Jefferson. The veteran receiver spent his early career with the Rams before last season in Tennessee.
(3:45PM) Veteran WR Dyami Brown is going back to Washington on a 1-year deal worth up to $3 million. Was hoping this one might come together in Cleveland but Brown returns to Washington where he spent his first four NFL seasons after one in Jacksonville.
(3:31PM) Bills signed P Mitch Wishnowsky to a one-year contract.
(3:27PM) The Colts are signing former Cowboys safety Juanyeh Thomas. Thomas played in 36 games with Dallas, recording 62 tackles, 5 PBUs and 1 forced fumble.
(3:12PM) The Colts have agreed to terms with safety and special teamer Jonathan Owens on a one-year deal. Bears have now lost five defensive backs rom last year’s team.
(2:00PM) The Chargers have signed former Giants, Vikings, Browns, and Cardinals defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson. He gets a 1-year, $7.5M deal with $6M fully guaranteed.
(1:31PM) The #Dolphins are signing former Dallas Cowboys WR Jalen Tolbert. It’s a 1-year deal. Tolbert had 91 catches, 1,093 yards and 10 TDs in his four years with Dallas. Another name I would have been interested in for the Browns.
(1:26PM) The Titans are releasing CB L’Jarius Sneed. He played just 12 games for Tennessee after arriving in a trade on a 4-year, $76.4M contract. The move will save Tennessee $11.4M against the cap.
(12:56PM) The 49ers are re-signing Pro Bowl special teamer Luke Gifford to a two-year, $5.3M contract.
(12:41PM) The Broncos have agreed to terms to bring back versatile RB Jaleel McLaughlin giving him a 1-year deal. This was a name I was monitoring for the Browns running back depth but he returns to his role in Denver.
(11:49AM) The Giants are signing veteran DB Jason Pinnock. Pinnock, who was with the Giants from 2022–2024, is now back after spending last year with the 49ers. He has started 46 career games, including 37 with the Giants.
(10:01AM) Dolphins announced they signed former Chargers guard/tackle Jamaree Salyer.
(7:10AM) Former Rams cornerback Cobie Durant reached agreement on a one-year deal worth up to $5.5M with the Dallas Cowboys. Another name I was interested is gone.

(11:44PM) The 49ers are signing CB Nate Hobbs to a one-year deal worth up to $4.5M. Released by Green Bay on Tuesday, Hobbs lands swiftly in San Francisco. I thought the Browns could have really used his services.
(10:46PM) Former Falcons EDGE Arnold Ebiketie is signing with the Eagles. Ebiketie brings 16.5 career sacks. The deal is a one-year, $7.3M max deal with the Eagles, including $4.3M fully guaranteed.
(8:24PM) The Chiefs are signing former Cardinals RB Emari Demercado to a one-year deal. Demercado had over 1,100 total yards and 4 TDs in Arizona, and now joins Kenneth Walker in Kansas City’s backfield.
(7:43PM) The Eagles are signing 2-time Super Bowl champion CB Jonathan Jones on a one-year deal.
(7:21PM) Fullback news: Connor Heyward has agreed to terms with the Raiders on a two-year, $5.5M max value deal with $2M fully guaranteed. It is reported the Steelers wanted Heyward back, but he heads out to Vegas.
(7:09PM) The Steelers are signing former Bears safety Jaquan Brisker to a one-year, $5.5M deal. Nice deal for the Steelers to bolster their safety group for a year. Brisker will look to cash in on the next cycle.
(6:38PM) C.J. Gardner-Johnson has signed a one-year deal with the Bills that is worth $6M. Good versatile piece for the Bills secondary.
(6:31PM) The Titans signed tight end Kylen Granson to a one-year deal. Granson caught 7 receptions for 49 yards last season with the Eagles. He spent his first 4 seasons with the Colts and has caught 93 receptions for 998 yards and 1 touchdown in 5 seasons.
(6:27PM) Veteran linebacker Denzel Perryman is returning to the Chargers on one-year deal. The 33-year old is steady presence in LA.
(6:19PM) Former Cardinals QB Kyler Murray is signing a one-year deal with the Vikings. Murray now will become part of a QB room that includes former No. 10 overall pick J.J. McCarthy. With Murray already owed $36.8M from Arizona, his one-year contract with the Vikings will be for the veteran league minimum.
(6:01PM) Former Steelers free agent receiver Calvin Austin is signing a one-year deal worth up to $4.5M with the NY Giants. I would have been into this one for the Browns.
(5:20PM) The Bucs added another veteran up front, signing former Lions EDGE Al-Quadin Muhammad to a one-year deal with a max value of $6M.
(5:05PM) The Seahawks are signing former Packers running back Emanuel Wilson to a one-year deal worth up to $2.1M. Wilson flashed last season with a 107-yard game and another for 82 yards as the Seahawks look to replace Kenneth Walker.
(4:21PM) Safety Jerrick Reed II is re-signing with the Titans on a 1-year deal.
(4:18PM) Dolphins are signing former Bengals free-agent cornerback Marco Wilson to a one-year deal.
(4:16PM) Dolphins are signing former Rams free-agent wide receiver Tutu Atwell to a one-year deal. Atwell is from Miami and now returns home and adds speed to the receiver room.
(4:08PM) Former Colts DE Samson Ebukam reached agreement today with the Atlanta Falcons on a one-year deal. The veteran EDGe had 71 pressures and 13 sacks in two seasons in Indianapolis.
(4:05PM) The Chiefs are signing former Dolphins CB Kader Kohou. Kohou missed all of last season with a knee injury, but has 38 career starts, 190 tackles, and 3 INTs. More versatility in KC’s secondary.
(4:01PM) The 49ers are bringing back Dre Greenlaw. Greenlaw was released by the Broncos this week and now returns to play alongside Fred Warner again. He gets a one-year, $7.5M deal.
(3:55PM) The Browns are bringing back CB/ST Tre Avery on a one-year deal. Avery appeared in 10 games last season, primarily on special teams. He was with the Titans from 2022-24, played in 10 games for Cleveland last season. During his time with Tennessee, made five starts and posted 78 tackles along with 11 pass breakups.
(3:15PM) Former Colts safety Rodney Thomas II is signing with the Seahawks. This is a reported one-year deal. He will try to help make up for several losses in the Seattle secondary to free agency.
(3:05PM) Former Bucs running back Rachaad White is off to join former Arizona State teammate Jayden Daniels in Washington. He gets a one-year deal to join the Commanders. We will update terms once released.
UPDATE: One-year deal worth $2M.
(3:02PM) The Seahawks are re-signing DT Brandon Pili to a one-year, $2 million deal.
(2:11PM) The Bengals are expected to sign DT Jonathan Allen to a two-year, $26 million deal that can get to a max $28M with incentives. Allen started all 17 games last season for the Vikings and had 68 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Bengals needed help inside on the DL and this is a good move for the veteran.
(2:10PM) Eagles free-agent punter Braden Mann is signing a four-year, $14M extension, including $7M guaranteed to return to Philadelphia.
(1:10PM) The Commanders are re-signing veteran offensive lineman Trent Scott. This will be his ninth season in the league and fourth year with the Commanders. He has experience at right guard and both tackle positions.
(12:52PM) The Broncos are re-signing receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey. He is a veteran that Sean Payton likes in the room and they lock in another one-year deal.
(12:38PM) The Eagles and three-time Pro Bowl OG Landon Dickerson have agreed to a revised two-year contract at around $36M. He was previously due $39M in 2026-27 but can hit that with 2027 incentives. He’s due $15.7M this year and is no longer under contract in 2028.
(11:56PM) The Lions have agreed to terms with former Buccaneers S/N Christian Izien on a one-year deal. He was not on my radar for the Browns.
(10:30AM) The Titans are signing former Commanders OLB Jacob Martin to a 2-year deal worth up to $11M. Rising player who had six sacks and 18 pressures last season.
(9:30AM) The Bengals have extended offensive tackle Orlando Brown through the 2028 season. To their credit the Bengals have done well enough finding offensive line competency and keeping it intact. The issues for Cincinnati lie on the other side of the ball.
(7:45AM) The NFL released their list of post-Jun 1 cut designations. The Browns have two on the list as we expected.
Kyler Murray
Kirk Cousins
Tua Tagovailoa
David Njoku
Wyatt Teller
Dre Greenlaw
Nate Hobbs
Bradley Chubb
Jonathan Allen
So, the Browns will have Njoku’s dead cap at $9.5 million in 2026 and $14.7 million in 2027. Teller’s dead cap will be broken up into $8.2 million in 2026 and $11.1 million in 2027.
They also announced they have cut offensive tackle Jack Conklin without the June 1 designation so he will have a full dead cap number of $12.4M in 2026.
(7:37AM) Keaton Mitchell signing with the Chargers for two years and $9.25M with $5M guaranteed. Max value of $11.25M. Given the Chargers have both Omarian Hampton and Kimani Vidal this is a confusing signing, but as far as fit you can see Mitchell working out well there. Was interested in his speed with the Browns.
(6:05AM) Here’s a quick look at the best free agents available for Day 4.

(6:00AM) DAY4! The Browns are bringing back Corey Bojorquez on a one-year deal. Have to admit I am not the biggest fan of this move but perhaps he has a bounce-back season.

(8:10PM) Former Chiefs DE Charles Omenihu reached agreement today on a one-year deal for $4M worth up to $7M with the Washington Commanders.
(7:23PM) The Bucs are signing former Panthers DTA'Shawn Robinson to a 1-year, $10M fully guaranteed deal, per The Insiders. A raise after he was due to make $8.5M with Carolina.
(6:49PM) Another trade: Dallas is sending DL Solomon Thomas and a 7th-round pick to the Titans in exchange for another 7th-round pick. Picks 218 and 225.
(6:27PM) TRADE! The Cowboys are trading DT Osa Odighizuwa to the 49ers. Odighizuwa had 17 sacks, 34 TFLs and 2 forced fumbles during his tenure in Dallas. The 49ers are sending back a third-round pick in this year’s draft.
(6:14PM) The Dolphins are signing former Patriots CB and special teams ace Alex Austin to a 1-year deal. The 24-year-old has 8 career PBUs and 1 INT, as Jeff Hafley continues to bolster his secondary
(5:43PM) Former first-round pick Evan Neal is back to the Giants on a one-year deal. He has yet to develop but there is some belief he can still be a serviceable player in the league. We will see.
(5:35PM) The Texans are signing former Saints TE Foster Moreau, source said, adding depth to the TE room. He leaves New Orleans after three seasons.
(5:34PM) Chris Rodriguez Jr. is joining former play-caller Liam Cohen on a deal with Jacksonville that is for two years and $10M with a max value of $12M with $6.2M fully guaranteed. More money than I anticipated he would get on the market.
(5:30PM) Former Vikings DT Javon Hargrave reached agreement on a 2-year deal for $23 million, including $13 million this year with the Packers. Surprised Hargrave keeps getting contracts like these based on how he’s performed of late.
(5:15PM) The Titans are signing former Chiefs DE Malik Herring to a 1-year deal. Herring was an undrafted free agent out of Georgia and spent four years developing in Kansas City.
(4:33PM) We learned from the Browns today two things. First that Joel Bitonio’s deadline has passed and he has now turned into a $24M dead cap charge but we will see if there’s anything new to learn there in the coming hours. Second, Ronnie Hickman was actually not extended a “Second Round Tender” but rather a “Right of First Refusal” tender. Our own Anthony Reinhard elaborated on the surprise there and subscribers can read it HERE.
(4:30PM) Former Browns first-round tackle Jedrick Wills will return to the NFL after a season away from the sport to sign with the Bears on a one-year deal. It will surely be a low dollar amount and a chance for Wills to catch on in the league again. Plenty of talent but that was never his biggest issue.
(4:19PM) Former Raiders offensive guard Dylan Parham is signing with the Jets on a two-year deal worth up to $20M. Nice signing for the Jets and we had him on our radar before the Browns signed Zion Johnson and Elgton Jenkins.
(4:15PM) Big deal for the Bills who have been striking out on pass rushers over the last few days. They have agreed to terms with former Bronco and Dolphin Bradley Chubb on a three-year, $43.5M deal that has $29M guaranteed and could get to $52.5M with incentives. I don’t love that deal for Buffalo.
(4:10PM) John Metchie III is off to Carolina to join the Panthers and former college teammate Bryce Young on a one-year deal. He found some late season success with the Jets last year and I thought the Browns might be interested in the young receiver.
(4:00PM) NEW LEAGUE YEAR IS HERE! Both the Cardinals and Falcons officially released their veteran quarterbacks. Kyler Murray is very much expected to land with the Vikings and the Raiders are the leaders in the clubhouse for Kirk Cousins.
(3:34PM) The Commanders are staying busy as they are also signing safety Nick Cross who heads back toward home leaving the Colts. The young safety gets a two-year deal worth up to $14M. Would have loved this deal for the Browns.
(3:07PM) The Commanders have agreed to terms with former Titans tight end Chig Okonkwo on a three-year deal worth $30M. This is a bigger number than I anticipated he would receive on the market as I had some interest in him in Cleveland if it came reasonable.
(2:47PM) Vikings running back Aaron Jones has agreed to a revised contract to remain with the Vikings for another year. Jones lowers his base salary to $5.5 million. The Viking also released veteran safety Harrison Smith who remains undecided about retirement.
(2:41PM) The Bears are going to have to keep remaking their safety room as their All-Pro Kevin Byard is on now off to New England to join the Patriots on a one-year, $9M deal. Byard started all 17 games last year, had an NFL-best seven interceptions. He reunites with his former coach Mike Vrabel.
(2:32PM) Former Brown turned Bear Chris Williams is head to Atlanta to rejoin Kevin Stefanski. The defensive tackle will get a one-year deal worth $2M with the Falcons.
(2:15PM) The Ravens are bringing back veteran Chidobe Awuzie to their secondary. He spent a long time in Cincinnati before going to Baltimore and having a nice season. It’s a one-year deal worth $5M guaranteed.
(1:30PM) The Colts are signing former Jets DL Michael Clemons to a three-year deal worth $17.5M and upside to $18.5M. Can’t say this one makes a ton of sense to me as I saw Clemons as a one-year deal type but he gets paid in Indy.
(1:17PM) The Seahawks are bringing back Josh Jones to their offensive line on a one-year deal. The veteran was a third-round pick in 2020 who spent three years in Arizona, one in Houston and Baltimore before the 2025 season in Seattle. He started three games late in the season for the Super Bowl Champions. He would have been welcome depth in Cleveland if it came down to it.
(1:13PM) Former Browns kicker Cade York is extending his NFL life to the Jets now on a one-year deal. He last kicked in the NFL in 2024 with the Bengals and Commanders before spending time in 2025 on the Falcons practice squad. He will get a chance to replace Nick Folk.
(12:57PM) Former Dolphins and Cardinals LB Channing Tindall is signing a one-year deal with the Falcons. I could have been into Tindall in Cleveland but not a surprise to see him head to Atlanta.
(12:50PM) EDGE Josh Uche plans to sign a one-year deal with the Dolphins. The former Michigan product has spent time with the Eagle, Chiefs, and Patriots.
(12:30PM) The Browns have added some depth at the “Y” tight end position with former Eagle and Saints tight end Jack Stoll. The former UDFA has carved a nice niche in the league as a blocking tight end and the Browns hope he can do that in their offense this year. It’s a one-year deal with terms yet to be announced. Subscribers to the site can read more about it HERE.
(12:30PM) Two big pieces of release news as the Cardinals are set to release quarterback Kyler Murray at 4PM today with the belief he will head to Minnesota eventually. Also, the 49ers plan to release Brandon Aiyuk as soon as today. His guarantees in his contract were voided earlier in the 2025 season.
(12:24PM) Packers EDGE Brenton Cox Jr. is re-signing with the team on a one-year, $2.5M deal. Green Bay brings back some known depth in an evolving front seven group.
(12:15PM) Former Dolphins depth linebacker KJ Britt is signing a one-year deal with the Patriots.
(12:00PM) The Colts have finally locked down Daniel Jones on a two-year deal worth $88M and can get up to $100M with incentives. It avoids a year on the transition tag and allows him to feel some security working back from the achilles injury that ended his season.
Details:
-- Base value of $88M is $5M more than if Jones played on back-to-back transition tags.
-- Incentives starting with $100K earned for each game the team wins with Jones playing 50% total up to $6M.
-- Jones will earn $50M in 2026 before the incentives -- a $12.2M increase from the transition tag he would have played on in 2026.
-- Jones will earn $38M in 2027 before incentives - $10M of which is guaranteed.
(9:15AM) Not even 12 hours after backing out of the Max Crosby deal the Ravens have reached an agreement with Trey Hendrickson on a massive four-year, $112M deal that includes $60M guaranteed and a $20M signing bonus. It’s a great outcome for Baltimore keeping their picks and still getting a premiere EDGE player, but the fallout of this situation will linger for some time.
(9:00AM) The Commanders are signing former Patriots EDGE K’Lavon Chaisson to a one-year deal worth up to $12M. Adding him to Odafe Oweh helps revamp the pass rush in Washington.
(8:30AM) The Chargers are re-signing special teams ace Del’Shawn Phillips on a two-year, $7.5 million deal that can be worth up to $10.5M with incentives. Phillips led the league in special teams tackles and was named second-team All-Pro in 2025.
(10:20PM) The Steelers are adding Brock Hoffman, a former Cowboy, to their interior offensive line. He gets a one-year, $2.5M deal. In three seasons with Dallas, Brock Hoffman has played 74 snaps at LG, 684 at C and 452 at RG. He is still young and has some upside for a potential long-term role. They are also signing veteran safety Darnell Savage to a one-year minimum veteran deal. He will be given a chance to compete for a roster spot.
(10:10PM) Former Commanders and Eagles Quarterback Sam Howell heads to Dallas on a one-year deal to serve as the backup to Dak Prescott. No official terms yet so we will update accordingly.
(9:30PM) Offensive Tackle Trey Pipkins is headed back to the Chargers on a two-year deal worth $10M and upside to $12M. He was the primary right tackle following Joe Ault’s injury last season and he didn’t play particularly well but he is a steady and healthy presence for the team as both tackles work their way back to health.
(8:30PM) The Max Crosby situation is a wild one. The Ravens are rescinding the deal due to a “Failed Physical" and this will be heavily debated in the coming days/weeks as the NFL will sort through how this one went sideways. For now, the Ravens get their picks back and Crosby heads back to Las Vegas.
(8:00PM) Former Bucs EDGE Logan Hall, a second-round pick, is off to Houston on a two-year deal. We don’t know the money on the deal yet but it was a player I thought the Browns could pursue for a depth role along the EDGE. Good pickup for the Texans.
(7:45PM) The Browns were rumored to be in this one until the finish line but Patrick Ricard, the former Ravens FB, is set to sign with the Giants and join his former coach. This one stings as I thought he would have been a nice weapon for this offense. Missing on both Charlie Kolar and Ricard is a bummer.
(7:30PM) Former Brown Jordan Elliott is leaving the 49ers to join the Titans on a two-year deal worth upt o $8M. He played a nice role with the 49ers and overall has gone over 400 snaps in each of the last five seasons.
(7:05PM) The Panthers are signing Luke Fortner to fill their center void on a one-year, $4.5M deal. He’s an interesting bargain deal only allowing only 11 pressures on 442 pass blocking snaps.
(6:50PM) The Lions are bringing back Teddy Bridgewater as their backup this year on a one-year deal. With Kyle Allen off to Buffalo the Lions had to make a move for Jared Goff’s backup and they turn to a familiar face. They also agreed to terms with veteran cornerback Rock Ya-Sin on a one-year deal.
(6:45PM) Former Chiefs linebacker Leo Chenal is headed to the Commanders on a three-year, $24.75M deal. He is just 25 years old and one of the best linebackers on the market this year. The Bengals appear to have missed out on the primary wave of linebackers with Elliss and Chenal off the board and it was a position they wanted to solve with either of these players.
(6:40PM) The 49ers are bringing back linebacker Garret Wallow to the fold on a one-year deal. He was a part of the replacement for Fred Warner and started both playoff games.
(6:30PM) The Bears are adding more interior DL depth with Kentavius Street. It’s just a one-year deal for the veteran who was with the Falcons previously and had 10.5 sacks.
(6:28PM) The Eagles have made their first addition of the free agency cycle by adding talented former Seahawks cornerback Riq Woolen on a one-year deal worth up to $15M. Woolen comes with some questions about his professionalism but he is quite talented. Safe deal for the Eagles.
(6:15PM) The Saints are stealing from their NFC South rival by swiping away veteran linebacker Kaden Elliss. They are giving him a three-year, $36M contract with $23M guaranteed. This was one I thought the Browns could be interested in before they signed Quincy Williams. Nice deal for the Saints here to replace Demario Davis.
(6:00PM) The Packers are adding former Chiefs and 49ers WR/KR Skyy Moore on a one-year deal. Moore never quite panned out as the receiving threat some thought but he seems to have carved a niche in the return game where he averaged 27.5 yards per kick return and 11.6 per punt return.
(5:55PM) The Browns are signing former Packers C/G Elgton Jenkins. This is a big swing by the Browns going two-years and $24M for a player the Packers mention failed his physical. I have covered more in depth the move and implications HERE for subscribers including an early scouting report.
(5:30PM) We have punter and kicker updates. The Steelers are signing Bill Burr…oh, I mean Cameron Johnston to a one-year deal. The Texans are trading for Saints punter Kai Kroeger with a swap of 6th and 7th round picks to make it happen. Also, former Dolphins kicker Jason Sanders is off to New York to join the Giants on a one-year deal. We are still waiting to see if the Browns add a different punter from the market this year.
UPDATE: Another move as the Titans are signing former Chiefs and Texans punter Tommy Townsend to a 2-year deal worth up to $6 million.
(5:15PM) The Cardinals have agreed to terms with veteran Matt Pryor on a one-year deal. We have not yet heard the figure on the deal but the former Eagle will provide depth across the line.
(4:25PM) The Cowboys are bargain shopping again and this time it’s at defensive tackle. They add NT Otito Ogbonnia on a one-year, $3M deal to bolster their interior.
(3:48PM) Cowboys are back in the safety market as they have reached an agreement on a one-year deal worth $5M for safety PJ Locke formerly of the Broncos.
(3:45PM) The Jets are signing former Bears CB Nahshon Wright to a one-year deal worth up to $5M. I would have been very interested at this price point but the Jets get it done.
(3:43PM) Browns announce they have re-signed Teven Jenkins. This deal makes plenty of sense for both sides. We will see what the terms of the deal are and report them once announced.
(3:18PM) Two lower-level linebacker moves as the Panthers agreed to bring back Isaiah Simmons on a one-year deal and the Lions agreed with Malcolm Rodriguez on a one-year deal to bring him back to Detroit. We will update terms once they are released.
(2:40PM) Former Packers receiver Romeo Doubs has agreed with the Patriots to a four-year, $68M deal with incentives that can get the deal to $80M. New England offered up big time on this deal after missing out on Alec Pierce. With the release of Stefon Diggs an addition had to be made to their room ahead of the draft and they take a big swing on Doubs here beating out the Commanders who also made a push.
(2:15) TRADE! Geno Smith is returning to the Jets as the teams agreed on a late pick swap, No. 208 for No 228. The Raiders are paying the bulk of Geno Smith's salary to facilitate the trade. The Jets get Smith for a little over the league minimum. There was some reported interest from the Vikings as well.
UPDATE: Final financials on the Geno Smith trade: Raiders pay $16.2M bonus. Jets pay $3.3M base salary. Smith makes $19.5M -- $1M more than the guarantee he had remaining on his old deal.
(2:00PM) The Texans are signing in-division offensive tackle Braden Smith from the Colts. The veteran tackle receives a two-year deal worth $20M with a maximum of $25M and $13M guaranteed. I would’ve be into this deal for the Browns but also understand his health concerns and performance declines over the last few seasons.
(1:30PM) The Panthers are releasing veteran defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson. He started 32 games for the team and collected 145 tackles and 8.0 sacks. He will find a home quickly.
(12:35PM) KICKER UPDATES! The Dolphins are signing former Brown Zane Gonzalez to a one-year deal. The Texans also made Ka’imi Fairbairn the highest paid kicker in the league with a two-year, $13M extension.
(12:10PM) The Lions have found their second running back alongside Jahmyr Gibbs as they agreed to terms with former Chief Isiah Pacheco. We will update the terms of the deal once they are made public.
UPDATE: It's a one-year, $1.81 million fully guaranteed deal with upside for more.
(12:00PM) The Bears are signing former Lion Khalif Raymond to a one-year deal worth $5.1M. The WR/KR found success with Detroit and was one I would have welcomed to Cleveland who needs a veteran presence in both phases. Good deal for Chicago.
(11:31AM) The Bills have struck a new deal with Dawson Knox that keeps the tight end in Buffalo. He was due $12M this year and the $1.5M roster bonus was coming due. We will update financials when they arrive.
(10:01AM) The Packers are releasing cornerback Nate Hobbs just one year into his four-year, $48M deal signed last offseason. He carries a ton of slot cornerback experience and he’s just 26 years old. Perhaps a scheme change casualty in play from the Packers shifting defense approach. This might be one to keep an eye on for the Browns.
(9:30AM) Former Brown Greg Newsome II is off to the Giants on a one-year deal. We just learned the deal is for upward of $10M so it probably check in just below that number on a guarantee level. It’s a good spot for Newsome to bounce back with an elite defensive line in front of him and he’s just 25 years old still. However, the Browns did clearly win the Newsome-Campbell deal for what it’s worth.
UPDATE: This deal is for a $8M with a maximum of $10M with just $3M guaranteed.
(9:03AM) We have an update on the Michael Pittman Jr. deal to the Steelers. The Steelers sent a 6th Round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and get back a 7th and Pittman. Pretty cheap cost overall for Pittsburgh so it comes down to Pittman being able to produce and justify the extension.
(8:00AM) The first deal of Day 2 is the Packers finally getting on the board as they add former Charger Benjamin St-Juste on a two-year, $10M deal with upside to $10.5M. The Packers need to replenish lost snaps and this is the first step. I expect them to be active today.
(11:45PM) The late-night signing is always a thing and despite being in the mix, the Browns miss out on Alijah Vera-Tucker. The talented but oft-injured guard goes across the division to join the Patriots on a three-year deal. This one would’ve been a good one for the Browns so it was tough to see them miss out. We will update the terms when they are released.
UPDATE: The deal is a three-year, $42M deal with upside to get to $48M with just $21M in guaranteed money. A deal very similar to Zion Johnson’s with the Browns but with less guarantees in the deal.
(10:10PM) The Chiefs added another late-night signing as they are re-signing wide receiver Tyquan Thornton to a two-year deal worth $11M. This was another one I could’ve been in on for the Browns as Thornton gets open deep and went for 438 yards last year.
(10:45PM) The safety market keeps moving on the first day with former Ravens and Chargers safety Alohi Gilman going to the Chiefs on a three-year deal worth $24.75M and $15M guaranteed. Gilman was the return for the Ravens upon sending Odafe Oweh out West so the Ravens will have to replace Gilman throughout the free agency period or on Day 2 of the Draft.
(10:20PM) The Cowboys are bringing back EDGE Sam Williams on a one-year deal worth up to $3M. The former second-round pick has been a decent contributor for the Cowboys and they keep him around another year.
(10:07PM) Veteran kicker Matt Gay is leaving the Commanders and head to the Raiders.
(10:04PM) The linebacker market’s biggest name is off the board. Devin Lloyd is leaving Jacksonville to head to Carolina on a three-year deal worth $45M and includes $25M guaranteed. Another sign even the best linebackers every year won’t cost more than a premium first round pick. Great opportunity remains in the market.
(9:00PM) Cole Strange, who spent time with the Browns this past year following being waved by the Patriots, is signing with the Chargers. The guard signs a two-year deal that is worth upward of $13M. Browns had no interest.
(8:54PM) The Steelers are re-signing Esezi Otomewo to a one-year deal. After spending parts of two seasons with the Jaguars from 2023 to 2024, he played in four contests over that span, Otomewo signed a one-year contract with the Steelers last March and was an effective part of the front.
(8:30PM) The Titans are signing more secondary help in former Chief Josh Williams. It’s a two-year deal for the 26 year old who is looking for a bounce-back year following an injury-shortened 2025 season.
(7:38PM) Jets are re-signing fullback Andrew Beck to a one-year deal with $1.5M guaranteed. Another fullback option I thought the Browns might consider is off the board.
(7:35PM) Former Lions quarterback Kyle Allen is signing with a two-year, $4.1M deal that can reach up to $6.1M with the Bills as they try to replace Mitch Trubisky who took off for Tennessee. Trubisky’s deal is worth two-year deal worth up to $10.5M and $6.825M guaratneed.
(7:32PM) The Steelers are replacing Kenneth Gainwell with former Cowboys and Panthers running back Rico Dowdell. He has come on strong the past two seasons and went for over 1,000 yards last season. This is a strong signing for the Steelers but every indication that third-round pick Kaleb Johnson has no place in the room right now.
UPDATE: The deal for Dowdle is two-years and $12.5M
(7:30PM) The Giants are going back to the Ravens list of free agents for their next signing. Ar’Darius Washington is off to New York on a one-year deal. Washington suffered a late season torn achilles in 2024 and got back on the field late in 2025. Would have been a fun signing for the Browns in their secondary.
(7:15PM) The Jets are signing former Giants safety Dane Belton to a one-year deal worth $4M and a maximum of $6M. Nothing much to add here as I didn’t view him as a Browns connection. He would have been fine depth.
(7:05PM) The Bears are signing a value offensive tackle I hoped the Browns might sign away. Braxton Jones, who has some good left tackle experience, is going back to the Bears at one-year and a maximum value of $10M. He will compete with their second-round pick Ozzy Trapilo for the start at left tackle next season.
(7:00PM) The Cardinals are once again active as they have signed veteran Kendrick Bourne on a two-year deal worth up to $12M. This is the type of quality veteran I would have been in on the Browns pursuing at that price-point. Good deal for the Crdinals.
(6:51PM) The Browns are signing former Jets linebacker Quincy Williams. This is one we saw coming in the process as his ties to Mike Rutenberg, and when Williams played his best football, was back in the 2023 and 2024 seasons. He will replace Devin Bush alongside Carson Schwesinger and gets a two-year deal worth up to $17M.
(6:48PM) The Texans are bringing in former Eagles safety Reed Blankenship on a three-year, $24.7M deal. There are some great value free agent signings happening at safety and this is one of them.
(6:43PM) The Cardinals also signed veteran defensive tackle Roy Lopez to a two-year, $11.5M deal with $7M guaranteed. He is known for his run defense and returns to the Cardinals after one season in Detroit.
(6:40PM) The Cardinals make a big addition to the interior of their offensive line signing former Steeler Issac Seumalo. A veteran I didn’t think the Browns would be into due to his age but he can still play and gave the Steelers some good games in that contract. The deal is three-years, $31M.
(6:22PM) Seahawks burner Rahid Shaheed returns to the Seahawks on a three-year, $51M deal that includes $34.7M guaranteed. That is a great number for Shaheed and one I don’t think the Browns could have afforded given their structures at wide receiver — or perhaps just didn’t want to stretch themselves there. He would have been a welcome addition.
(6:20PM) Former Steelers, Eagles, Browns, and Raiders quarterback Kenny Pickett gets a lucrative backup deal heading to the Panthers for one-year and up to $7.5M. Bears vet Case Keenum also re-signed with the Bears.
(6:03PM) The Giants lost Wan’Dale Robinson earlier in the day but retain Isaiah Hodgins on a one-year deal to keep their wide receiver depth in place. This feels like a team with Carnell Tate in mind at 5th overall.
(6:01PM) The Titans are signing Cordell Volson to a one-year deal with $2.5M guaranteed and up to $4.25M maximum. I hope for Cam Ward’s sake this is a player who doesn’t see the field very often.
(6:00PM) The Raiders got busy with three big signings. First, they re-signed EDGE Malcom Koonce to a one-year, $11M deal as the EDGE had 87 pressures and 13 sacks over the last two seasons. They also swung big at linebacker bringing in Nakobe Dean of the Eagles for three-years, $36M with $20M guaranteed. Then they closed things with another linebacker deal with former Packer Quay Walker at three-years, $40.5M with $28M guaranteed. Big money going out in Vegas.
(5:45PM) Former Bengals, Seahawks, and Broncos tight end Noah Fant has agreed to a two-year deal with the Saints. He is a nice secondary pass-catching option for the Saints at a low price-point.
UPDATE (3/10): This is a 2-year contract worth $8.75M with $4.5M guaranteed.
(5:40PM) Linebacker Alex Singleton is back with the Broncos. It’s a two-year, $15.5M deal that keeps the core of their linebacker unit intact. One of the better run defenders at the position, Singleton had 160 tackles last season. Thought he might interest the Browns but it appears they will go as cheap as possible next to Carson Schwesinger.
(5:33PM) Travis Kelce returns to Kansas City for a one-year deal worth up to $12M. At 36 this is a sign Kelce will wrap up his career with the Chiefs and never have that Cleveland season some hoped would happen.
(5:30PM) The Commanders are signing defensive tackle Tim Settle on a three-year, $24M deal worth up to $25.5M. The Commanders drafted Settle in the 5th round in 2018 and he spent four seasons with the team before playing for both the Bills and the Texans. He had 43 pressures and 5 sacks in 2024.
(5:25PM) The Giants are re-signing offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor to a three-year, $39M deal. The veteran has started 62 games over the last four seasons and fills a major hole his departure would have opened up. This one didn’t make much sense for the Browns due to age.
(5:10PM) The Falcons are signing all the left-handed quarterbacks. Tua Tagovailoa, released by the Dolphins this morning, is off to Atlanta to join Kevin Stefanski. He will compete on the minimum deal ($1.3M) while the Dolphins pay him $54M. He should have a chance to compete with Michael Penix for the job.
(5:00PM) Another Browns target is gone. Former Falcons CB Dee Alford is off to the Bills for a three-year, $21M deal with $10M guaranteed. He was an ideal slot corner fit with connections to Mike Rutenberg but he chooses the Bills offer. He would have fit well.
(4:48PM) The 49ers are signing veteran offensive tackle and former Patriot Vederian Lowe to a two-year, $12M deal with $5.75M guaranteed. This was one I thought the Browns might poke around at but he didn’t appear to be on their radar.
(4:45PM) This is a big one. The Commanders are signing former Ravens and Chargers EDGE Odafe Oweh to a four-year, $100M deal with $68M guaranteed. From traded for cheap at the deadline to a massive deal. He has been quite productive the last two seasons with 56 pressure, 22 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles.
(4:35PM) The Raiders are adding Kwity Paye to their pass rush for three-years and $48M and $32M guaranteed. This is a steep price for an average pass rusher but that is the going rate. The former first-round pick is 27 and has 176 pressures across his five-year NFL career where has shown strong durability and the ability to set the edge in run defense.
(4:33PM) The Cowboys are making the rare free agency signing inking Jalen Thompson to a three-year, $36M deal. The Cowboys have major holes in the secondary and this is a wise step to stabilize ahead of the draft.
(4:30PM) The Packers are releasing Elgton Jenkins. The center has two trips to the Pro Bowl and one of the better resumes on the market at the position. He had injury issues last season missing time at the end of the season with a broken ankle/fibula. He will play this season at just 30 years old. The Browns should inquire.
(4:27PM) The Bengals agreed with formed Seahawks EDGE Boye Mafe on a three-year, $60M deal. The former second-round pick has racked up 149 pressures over the last three seasons and will add much needed juice to the Bengals EDGE group. Good signing.
(3:50PM) The Lions have added more offensive line help with veteran Larry Borom who will serve as an option for plugging the hole left behind by Taylor Decker. He would’ve been an interesting cheaper offensive tackle option for the Browns if they wanted to add alongside Tytus Howard ahead of the NFL Draft.
(3:46PM) The Commanders have agreed to terms with Marcus Mariota on a one-year, $7M deal that could escalate to $11M. Really this was the only veteran option on the free market I thought was worth considering but the Browns had no interest and Mariota returns for a well-paid backup role.
(3:40PM) The Browns lost Cameron Thomas to the Falcons. He is headed South for a one-year, $3.1M deal. Really liked his snaps in Cleveland last year and preferred they keep him around but there must not have been real interest near that number. Bummer to see him go.
(3:34PM) The Seahawks worked to retain some secondary talent as they are bringing back cornerback Josh Jobe on a three-year, $24M deal. He will be an even bigger part of that group this season.
(3:30PM) The Titans are staying busy also signing Alontae Taylor to their secondary in a total facelift for a bad group last season. Taylor gets three-years, and $60M with $42M guaranteed. Paired with Flott this is a massive upgrade for the Titans coverage unit.
(3:28PM) J.K. Dobbins is heading back to Denver. A good deal for Denver to keep the balance in their backfield as he fits well with RJ Harvey. Some moderate interest on the Browns side if he would have been cheap.
UPDATE: It’s a two-year, $20 million deal, including $8M fully guaranteed at signing.
(3:26PM) The Bengals make their first big splash in free agency with former Chiefs safety Bryan Cook. He will help a secondary that badly needs help in coverage and it allows some of their other talents to move into roles more fit for their skill-set. Good signing.
(3:25PM) The player who was sneaky under-the-radar to get paid well was Cor’Dale Flott and he found it with the Titans. He gets a three-year deal worth $45M and $32M in guarantees. He can play inside or outside and flourished last season. Too pricey for the Browns but the type of modern cornerback you really like to have on your roster.
(3:20PM) This one is a bummer. Charlie Kolar, the former Ravens tight end, is off to LA to join the Chargers. His deal is a three-year deal worth $24M with $17M in guarantees. I thought he would have been a perfect second tight end in Cleveland with Todd Monken’s offense but he joins another Harbaugh out west to alongside Oronde Gadsden II. Nice fit for him, but I am unhappy about it.
(3:16PM) The Colts are signing former Jags and Titans EDGE Arden Key to a two-year deal worth $20M with $11M in guarantees. Key has been one of the best budget edge rushers in the NFL for a few years now and fits the Colts need for depth there.
(3:15PM) The Giants are singing Tremaine Edmunds, the former Bills and Bears MIKE linebacker to a three-year deal worth $36M. Good deal for Edmunds who at just 26 years of age is now making his second big NFL contract. The Giants moved on from Bobby Okereke so this move makes sense for their linebacker unit.
(3:12PM) The Titans are signing DT John Franklin-Myers to a three-year, $63M deal. The veteran cashes in on a light interior defensive line class and immediately bolsters the Titans front next to Jeffrey Simmons. Tough group there now who can add an elite EDGE in the draft.
(3:02PM) The Browns have their first signing. They are inking former first-round pick Zion Johnson to a three-year deal worth $49.5M which includes $32.4M guaranteed. It’s a big swing on the former Charger who is just 26 years old. He has been inconsistent in his rookie contract and the Chargers have plenty invested on their offensive line, including two high pick offensive tackles, so it is no surprise to see him reach free agency. Make no mistake, this is an upside swing.
(2:40PM) The Browns first free agent news is a departure. Devis Bush gets a three-year, $30M deal from the Bears. This was the absolute max I would have offered Bush if they were hellbent on keeping him but I am glad they held off. Use that money on help for the offense and lean into Jason Tarver’s developmental success.
(2:34PM) Former Bucs corner Jamel Dean is headed to the AFC North as he will join the Steelers on a three-year deal worth $36.75M. This is not a shocker considering the status of the Steelers cornerback room so it’s a good deal for both sides.
(2:32PM) Mike Evans is leaving Tampa Bay for the first time in 12 seasons as he heads out West to join the 49ers. He will be a perfect fit in that offense. He gets a three-year deal with terms yet to be announced. We will update.
UPDATE: The deal is three-years for $60.4M effectively having Evans replace Brandon Aiyuk’s cap number. More on the deal: it is a 3-year contract that's worth $42.4M with $16.3M guaranteed.
There are incentives where he could earn way more.
(2:18PM) The Jets are once again signing a veteran along the defensive line and this time it is in the form of David Onyemata to a one-year deal worth $10.5M. The 33-year old gets a nice figure for one season coming off a 21-pressure season. Again, big risks on older veterans for the Jets.
(2:16PM) After a strong showing with the Vikings the last two seasons, Jalen Nailor signs a three-year, $23M guaranteed deal with the Raiders to bolster their young wide receiver room. He will have a bigger role and plenty of opportunity in Las Vegas. Another one of the right price point options I had interest in for the Browns.
(2:11PM) Another quality interior offensive lineman off the board as the Saints have reached an agreement with former Bills guard David Edwards. It is a big deal as the veteran gets four-years, $61M to join a young Saints offense. I think there is a chance the Browns might have been in at this price point but we will see if it gets confirmed.
(2:06PM) Former Eagles receiver, and former first-round pick, Jahan Dotson is headed to Atlanta to join the Falcons on a two-year deal worth $15M that can reach $17M and has $10M guaranteed. Good deal for Dotson who has yet to find much consistency at the NFL level.
(2:03PM) The Chiefs have agreed to terms with former Patriot Khyiris Tonga on a three-year deal worth $21M and includes $14M guaranteed. Bold deal for the Chiefs who need interior help in a bad way. No interest for the Browns here.
(2:01PM) The Titans have plenty of cap to spend and they go heavy after former Giants wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson who is among the best available at the position. He has inside and outside alignment flexibility and will give Cam Ward a nice young weapon. The deal was well out of the Browns price range at four-years, and $70M with upside to get to $78M with $38M guaranteed.
(1:59PM) The Saints are making a splash by signing former Jaguars running back Travis Etienne. The Saints will have to deal with Alvin Kamara’s future but for now they have a long-term vision in the room with Etienne. Will circle back once the figures drop.
UPDATE: The deal is reportedly worth four-years, and $52M.
(1:47PM) Former Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier has agreed two a two-year, $12.25M deal with the Cardinals. Steady producing at the position across his rookie deal, Allgeier now gets a chance at more carries in Arizona. I had some fringe Browns interest but that is more than they want to pay a veteran running back.
(1:45PM) The Raiders and center Tyler Linderbaum have agreed to a massive three-year, $81M deal that includes $60M guaranteed. It makes him the highest paid interior offensive lineman in NFL history. We will see how connected the Browns were in this one but that is a steep cost and resets the market. “At $27 million per year, it is $9M more than the previous record of $18M set by Creed Humphrey.”
(1:33PM) The center market is getting bare with Cade Mays, formerly of the Panthers, now off to the Lions. Obviously the Tyler Linderbaum decision looms but Mays was the next best name on the market and he is now off to join the Lions. The deal is three-years and $25M. Would have been very into that cost for the Browns.
(1:31PM) Another punter signing — which is something we need to pay attention to given the Browns current situation. Former Dolphin Jake Bailey is off to Atlanta for a deal that is three-years, $9M and includes $5M guaranteed.
(1:27PM) Depth tight end Daniel Bellinger is leaving the Giants to sign with the Titans. Not a surprise given the Giants signing of Isaiah Likely but Bellinger looks for a bigger role with the Titans. I had some interest in this one for the right cost but the Titans reunite him with former head coach Brian Daboll. He gets a nice payday in three-years for $24M.
(1:25PM) Former Seahawks safety Coby Bryant is signing with the Bears to bolster a secondary that is losing safety JaQuan Brisker. Bryant had a strong 2025 playing the deep safety role for the Seahawks and cashes in with the Bears. The deal will be three-years, and worth $40M.
(1:23PM) Cornerback Amik Robertson is set to sign a two-year, $16M deal with the Commanders. Following a down year in Detroit, the Commanders are buying into Robertson’s ball skills and ability to play inside and out.
(1:17PM) The Patriots steal from the division-rival Bills by signing fullback Reggie Gilliam to a three-year deal worth up to $12M and has $6M guaranteed. A fringe interest for me if the Browns want back in the fullback world but a little too pricey given other needs.
(1:16PM) Veteran linebacker Alex Anzalone is leaving Detroit and headed to Tampa Bay at two-years, and $17M. This is one I thought the Browns might be interested in given his longevity and success.
(1:14PM) Former Ravens punter Jordan Stout is headed to New York to join the Giants on a three-year, $12.3M deal. He was quite good with the Ravens, so again, happy to see him go.
(1:11PM) The Bucs have added to their running back room by signing Kenneth Gainwell to a two-year, $14M deal with $10M guaranteed. Happy to see him leave the division as he was stellar in Pittsburgh last year.
(1:08) Two smaller signings as Mitchell Trubisky leaves the Bills to head to Tennessee on a two-year deal to backup Cam Ward, and former Browns Austin Hooper returns to the Falcons, who he left all those years ago, to join Kevin Stefanski for one-year, $3.2M.
(1:06PM) Veteran linebacker Demario Davis is leaving New Orleans and headed back to the Jets. Davis last played for the Jets back in 2017 before joining the Saints. The deal is two-years, worth $22M and $15M in guarantees. The Jets are putting their chips in for some veterans here banking on health.
(1:02PM) DL Kingsley Enagbare of the Packers is now set to sign a 1-year, $10M deal with the Jets to bolster their pass rush. Jets have been going after mid-level pass rush talent to play with more depth.
(1:00PM) Two lower-level signings with James Pierre to the Vikings for 2-years, $8.5M and DT John Ridgeway to the Saints for two-years, and $6.2M. Would have been interested in Pierre at that rate.
(12:58PM) Former Bengals pass rusher Joseph Ossai is headed to New York to join the Jets for three-years and up to $36M with $22.5M guaranteed. Nice deal for Ossai and a big swing on upside by the Jets.
(12:57PM) Colts defensive tackle Neville Gallimore is head to the Bears for a two-year, $12M deal. This isn’t one the Browns would have been interested in but helps the Bears get more interior pass rush.
(12:54PM) Former Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely is off to New York to sign with the Giants and his former head coach John Harbaugh. The deal is worth $40M over three years with upside to $47.5M. The move is a smart one for the Giants as he will be a nice weapon. The Browns were more fringe pretenders on that price range although he would’ve been a welcome addition.
(12:50PM) Things are moving quickly! The Dolphins have now added Malik Willis on a three-year deal worth $67.5M and $45M guaranteed. The Browns were rumored to be interested all along the way but the connection to Jeff Hafley and the Dolphins front office takes Willis to South Beach.
(12:49PM) The frenzy of 3-year, $30M deals continues as the Ravens are signing John Simpson to a deal to return to the team he last played for in 2023. The Ravens need help inside and they think Simpson can provide it.
(12:46PM) The Steelers and Colts have struck a deal to send the veteran wide receiver to the Steelers for a “late-round pick swap.” I would have been very into this deal for the Browns at that cost and it is a bummer to see him arrive with the Steelers. The move opens up $24M in cap space for the Colts.
UPDATE: The Steelers also gave Pittman Jr. a new three-year, $59 million deal.
(12:44PM) The first big shocker of free agency as former Dolphins and Eagles EDGE Jaelan Phillips is heading to Carolina to join the Panthers on a massive 4-year, $120M deal at $30M per year. That is a big number for the former first-round pick who found a resurgence when traded to the Eagles.
(12:41PM) The Commanders and Laremy Tunsil have agreed to a massive two-year extension that checks in at $60.2M and has $32.5 as a bonus which will be the biggest signing bonus for an offensive lineman in NFL history. Big deal with now $61.5M in gurantees.
(12:38PM) The Rams have landed another cornerback from KC as they inked Jaylen Watson to a three-year deal worth $51M. Watson has been up-and-down at times with the Chiefs but the former seventh-round pick is a promising talent and still just 27. The Browns didn’t have the budget for Watson but if they did it would have made some sense for them. The Rams are pushing to keep developing a secondary after some disappointing outcomes over the years.
(12:32PM) The Bucs will be bringing back Cade Otton, their veteran tight end. This is one I thought the Browns might be interested in pursuing as he’s turned into a very complete (Y) tight end but the Bucs lock him down before any suitors have the chance.
(12:23PM) The Chiefs have gone out and landed their running back of interest. They have inked Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III to a deal. We have no details on the exact figure, usually a sign a number isn’t massive, but once we get those we will add. The Browns will play in the smaller running back market, if at all.
UPDATE: The deal is reported to be 3-years, for $43.05M with $28.7M guaranteed. This is a nice deal for Walker. The number puts him among the five highest paid backs in the league in guaranteed dollars.
(12:21PM) Two big rumors to come out in the last hour are that Travis Kelce is open to year 14 in the NFL and it will happen in Kansas City and that SF is now open to moving All-Pro tackle Trent Williams — he is owed around $32M next season.
(12:09PM) Another CB is off the market as the Raiders have agreed with Eric Stokes on a three-year, $30M deal with $20M guaranteed. This is going to be a common middle class cornerback contract this cycle and he helps bolster a Raiders secondary that could not afford to lose him. No interest in Stokes from the Browns side.
(12:05PM) The Patriots have reached an agreement with former Ravens defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones on a three-year, $39.5M deal. This is Jones second time striking a contract on the free agent marker and will provide the Patriots some pass rush juice. Happy to see him outside the division after impacting the Ravens defense well last season.
(12:03PM) The first mid-level free agent I would have been interested in goes elsewhere with Olamide Zaccheaus heading back to Atlanta. He would have been a nice veteran addition to the Browns room with positional versatility but he returns to the Falcons where he spent his first seven seasons.
(12:02PM) The Colts are retaining the biggest free agent wide receiver in Alec Pierce. The deal is 4-years, and $116M. That is a big deal for the young receiver who is set to make $28M per year. He had offers from New England, Raiders, Chargers, and 49ers. I would have liked the Browns to be in but this was well outside of their price range.
(10:45AM) The Texans agreed with defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins on a two-year, $12M deal to keep him in Houston. This is a good deal for the Texans as Rankins is a big part of their interior pass rush and helps make life on the edge rushers easier. Not a player the Browns would have been interested in overall.
(9:45AM) TRADE. The Packers have agreed to send Rashan Gary to the Cowboys in exchange for a 2027 4th Round pick. This one is surprising as it felt like the Packers were on the verge of cutting Gary but the Cowboys wanted to lock up his services and keep the remaining two-year, $42M deal in place as it has limited guarantees. The Packers continue to shed salary and reshape their plan on defense as they have several heavy contributors on both sides set to test the market when it opens today.
This was not one I would have wanted the Browns to be in on.
(9:15AM) TRADE. The Jets and Dolphins are making a rare in-division trade as safety Minkah Fitzpatrick is off to New York. The move marks a significant move for a defense that had relied on his versatility and playmaking ability in the secondary as they brought him back to Miami last year in the trade for Jalen Ramsey sending him to Pittsburgh. The terms of the deal have the Jets sending back a 2026 seventh-round pick from the Chargers.
Fitzpatrick, originally drafted by Miami in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, quickly established himself as one of the league’s premier safeties. The Jets still believe in him as they have inked him to a new three-year, $40M deal. The Dolphins are truly cleaning house.
(9:05AM) One of the better true cornerbacks on the market, Montaric Brown decided to return to the Jaguars on a 3-year $33M deal. Good move for the Jaguars who lost Tyson Campbell to the Browns in a trade last year and it appears they have minimal interest in keeping Greg Newsome II around.
(8:30AM) The Miami Dolphins have officially released quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, bringing an end to his tenure with the organization. The move brings a $99M cap hit split over two seasons in a historic number that the Browns will challenge soon enough. It is no surprise a trade could not be found.
Tagovailoa, the fifth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, spent his entire career with the Dolphins up to this point. During his time in Miami, he developed into one of the league’s more efficient passers in Mike McDaniel’s offense, helping guide the team to multiple playoff appearances while operating one of the NFL’s most explosive passing attacks.
The decision signals a major shift for the Dolphins at the quarterback position and immediately places Tagovailoa among the most notable veterans available this offseason and can play on the league minimum $1.3M due to the offset language of what Miami owes him. Given his experience as a starting quarterback and familiarity with timing-based offenses, he is expected to generate some interest around the league in the coming days but I do not expect the Browns to be too interested.
(8:00AM) Asante Samuel Jr. returns to the Steelers on a one-year, $4M deal. Samuel struggled to get cleared last year following neck surgery but landed with the Steelers for the final six games and made an impact. He can certainly play and I would not have minded if the Browns went after his services but the Steelers were wise to lock him up before the market opened today.
(6:30AM) Chris Manhertz returns to the Giants on a one-year deal to enter his 12th NFL season. He was a fringe Tight End of interest way down the line so this one doesn’t move the needle at all.
(5:30AM) The Texans locked up guard Ed Ingram to a three-year, $37M extension to keep him in Houston and retain more of the offensive line. They brought back Trent Brown on a one-year deal late last week as well. This is not a surprising move but a necessary one after trading Tytus Howard to the Browns. I didn’t like much of what I saw from Ingram on tape when studying Brown so this feels dicey for Houston but that seems to be their general plan for their offensive line at this point. Confusing offseason so far for the Texans.
NFL free agency moves quickly — sometimes faster than fans can keep up with. Deals are reported within minutes, extensions are announced out of nowhere, and roster decisions across the league can reshape the landscape of the offseason in a matter of hours.
That’s why we’re launching our Free Agency Tracker, a running hub where we will record every significant move made across the NFL as teams reshape their rosters. Signings, extensions, trades, restructures — if it impacts the league, it will show up here.
But this isn’t just a list of transactions.
Each move will include context and analysis, focusing on what the decision means for the team making it and how it could ripple across the rest of the league. We’ll look at roster implications, scheme fits, contract value, and — of course — what it might mean for the Cleveland Browns as they navigate their own offseason strategy.
Free agency unfolds in waves. Some teams strike early. Others wait for value. And sometimes the most important moves are the ones that never happen.
We’ll track it all here.
