Browns Data Spotlight (Week 10)
Our weekly effort to take valuable, but at times confusing, NFL data and summarize what the charts are telling us about the Cleveland Browns.
As a companion to the data discussion we have on the Friday pod each week, we will be taking a look at the most interesting/relevant data released between games in an attempt to gain better understanding and look for trends as the season progresses. I understand these are miserable at times with the data this Browns team is providing but context matters at Browns Film Breakdown — good or bad. To that end, here are the three charts we’ve chosen for this week.
Data Set No. 1
Our first set is a look at how tackles are performing on an island vs pass rush in 2024. via Timo Riske
Key Points
Jack Conklin is performing well vs league average this season.
Wills and Jones aren’t performing much lower than league average this season.
Hudson looks as bad on paper as he does on film
Takeaway
While the tackle play has been poor, particularly with injuries and having to play Hudson, it is not quite as dire as it looks when the Browns top three tackles are healthy. While this should remain a priority for the team, it is not a priority to the point where it overrides a draft board. In addition, as painful as it sounds, we should keep an eye on retaining Wills in 2025 and beyond, pending his price tag.

Next we have some additional context on the Browns, Joe Flacco, and Jameis Winston - Its been said but perhaps easily forgotten that the Flacco experience is, in fact, akin to a rollercoaster ride, and that is why his comparison to Winston has always been apt:
