Browns Film Breakdown: Midweek Newsletter
Welcome to your Midweek Newsletter -- where we gather for the all the content that mattered and deliver it fresh to your inbox!
What a wild week of coverage following a rather peculiar win down in Jacksonville. If the NFL ever had a “Florida Man..” headline for a game, this one would have been it. Swings of momentum on both sides, each team making costly and unnecessary mistakes, and weather that made it feel like a monsoon one minute and perfect golf weather the next. When these games happen, Browns Film Breakdown will continue to be the place to go in order to accurately understand what happened, why it happened, and how it happened.
The defense showed up well on the road to dominate most of the affair—which is much-needed following last year’s performances away from Cleveland— and the offense took steps in the right direction displaying some competence. Let’s go back and look at the content we’ve created over the last few days at Browns Film Breakdown.
For those who are new: Every Wednesday, you’ll find links to the best stuff we’ve done in four different categories. We’ll start with Plays, a round up of the Film Rooms you need to watch from Sunday’s game. Then we’ll move to Audibles, highlighting the podcast episodes we think you need to catch up. Next up is Reads, gathering the articles from both us and elsewhere across the Internet you’ll want to digest. And finally, we end with Chats, catching up on the best community discussions we’ve had this week.
Get it? Got it? Good. Let’s begin.

Following the win in Jacksonville, Andrew Spayde covered just how good we think the Browns are through two weeks as there are several elements at play early in the season.
After Two Weeks, How Good Are The Browns?
Go back two weeks in your mind to Labor Day. If I came to you that day and said “In two weeks, the Browns will be 1-1, have scored 35 points and surrendered 46, while Jed Wills and Jack Conklin haven't played a snap, I bet you'd nod and say, “Not the best, but certainly not the worst. How has Watson looked?”
In his weekly piece focusing on “Fact or Fiction” Cody Suek analyzes the narratives surrounding the Browns, and Week 2 in particular, to dispel or backup what people think about the team.
Week 2: Fact or Fiction
In the world of professional football, the line between imagination and reality can easily get blurry, often creating false narratives around players, teams, or specific games. Personal biases and the limited view from the game feed can also contribute to these distorted views. But rest easy, Browns fans, each week we’ll get to the truth of the matter through film analysis and game data in a series we’re calling “Fact or Fiction.”
Jordan Zirm continues his weekly power ranking of the five most important people inside the Browns organization heading into Week 3.
Power Ranking The Browns For Week 3
The Browns narrowly avoided the embarrassment of losing a football game in a place called TrEverBank Stadium, and that, in my humble opinion, should count as two wins. It doesn’t, but 1-1 sure feels a hell of a lot better than 0-2, and the Browns now have a chance to get themselves on a modest win streak with the lowly New York Giants visiting the shores of Lake Erie this Sunday.
