Browns Film Breakdown Morning Newsletter: 10/30/2024
Grab your coffee, pull up a chair, and let's talk about a young linebacker.
Good morning and welcome in BFB faithful. I hope this finds you well. I write today with a heavy heart and it’s one of those parallels between my home life and my work life that just makes you reflect. We had to put down our 12 year old cat Simon yesterday due to some gnarly complications with his kidneys and heart. Nothing prepares you for those final moments. The rush of reflection on time spent with your pet and all the love you shared. And then how quickly it can end. Truly one of the toughest parts of life. The cliches about the difficulty of saying goodbye always prove true.
As I struggled to get through yesterday mentally I still had to think about the Browns. I thought about how nothing lasts in the NFL and how quickly things change. Obviously for a team, as we might be seeing with the Browns right now, but also for players. In a split second Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah almost lost his ability to play the sport. His nasty collision with Derrick Henry in the 3rd Quarter at Huntington Bank Field was as scary as it gets. He will be fine, as we learned, but in his absence, as well as Jordan Hicks, we had another reminder of how quickly things move in the NFL. Those abrupt changes led to an opportunity for Mohamoud Diabate and the young linebacker is proving worthy. He’s accumulated 19 tackles in his last three games and the UDFA out of Utah might just be on a path to starting the rest of the season for this group. It’s tough to keep him off the field. From nothing to everything. Just like that. Life moves quickly. He’s worth our focus in today’s Newsletter.
Reminder on what we’re doing with these Newsletters each morning:
We will aim to do with this Morning Newsletter — give you something new to know. This Newsletter won’t be over-saturated with links to click on or anything useless but rather something small, concise, and meaningful that has to do with the Browns each morning. Topics will vary but normally it’ll be something I watched on film review, or something I noticed about the next opponent, or a college player I think you should know ahead of the off-season. Just a piece of information I think is worth your time and definitely won’t waste your time. That is what you can expect. And with a nice and direct link to your daily podcast as well.
So, let’s get on with it.
Anytime you can get the NFL’s best analyst to randomly mention your name as a part of her game study, you’re doing something right. Mina covers the entire league and doesn’t spend time mentioning new starting linebackers all too often. It means you really have to stand out and it’s certainly a point I think Mina nailed.
