Finding Running Game Success without Nick Chubb
The Browns need to find success when running the football without Nick Chubb in order to avoid becoming one-dimensional on offense.
Nick Chubb is one of, if not the, best running backs in the NFL. The data and film are joined at the hip for a player that has been the cream of the crop at the position since his rookie campaign. Unfortunately, there is uncertainty about his availability for the upcoming season due to a knee injury suffered during Week 2 of the 2023 season against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Cleveland Browns must find success in the running game during his absence in order to move the ball and produce points. Let’s explore how Kevin Stefanski and Ken Dorsey might do that.
The Browns rushing attack struggled without Chubb a season ago. The unit ranked 26th in rush EPA (-70.6), 16th in success rate (39.6 percent), and 22nd in rushing yards over expected per attempt (-0.1).
