Newsletter: Another Dawand Jones Surgery, Joel Bitonio HOF Candidacy, and NFL Draft Sneak Peek
More surgery, guards with golden resumes, and how the draft will look for those visiting the NFL's golden city.
Happy Friday, everyone. Hope you are well and on the cusp of an exciting weekend of plans. Perhaps those plans are to do very little — which is also just fine. The football world continues to move slowly with major action on the horizon but we did get a key update about the Browns yesterday as offensive tackle Dawand Jones has gone through another surgical procedure.
If you recall, in 2023 Jones tore his MCL late in the season and missed the final five games. The MCL was the first major knee injury for the young lineman but it appears it came with some lingering complications. Jones returned for training camp on time this past season but it was clear mobility issues were hindering his performance. Some of it could be assigned to body weight issues post-surgery, but now we have some clarity it could be more than just the size he carried into the season.
The concern is that Jones is going back into surgery again for the same knee he did last offseason. For a man his size that is never something you want to see. This also comes quickly after the repair of the leg fracture he suffered this season against the Saints that abruptly ended his 2024 campaign early. None of this is good.
