Newsletter: BFB Quarterback Evaluations, and Investing in Running Backs Again
The quarterback evaluations are going strong, and the Nick Chubb dilemma looms.

We’re in the thick of evaluations for the website, in case you didn’t know, and we’re just getting started. In case you missed it, Scott and I have spent some serious time breaking down the top two quarterback prospects as we work through the Browns’ best options at the 2nd overall pick. Accomplished right now with an eye on the growing reports of the organization’s desire to go the quarterback route. We will hit on other options down the road as well.
If you missed it out, you can watch the Cam Ward Film Room HERE. We have 23+ minutes of film and discuss Ward’s best traits, with film to match, and where his tendencies can cause him trouble. The tools are dynamic but there are parts of the mental processing that an organization will need to hone in on perfecting.
We also got into deep detail on Shedeur Sanders HERE and talked through our thoughts and spent time with film after. He is the type of quarterback the Browns’ refined offensive structure in 2025 should desire, and he is a steady and accurate passer, but his tools lack the upside of Ward. Mix that with his inconsistent decision-making and it leads to discussions on just how high the grade can go. Still, plenty to also enjoy with Sanders.

We will dig into the details on two more quarterbacks independent of their peers in Jaxson Dart and then Jalen Milroe. They will occupy their own film before we throw together a slew of others in the “Late Day 2” or “Early Day 3” Tier we need to discuss.
The running back debates are heating up once again as the Eagles really decided to award Saquon Barkley with an extension fitting to the type of season he put together in 2024.
The trend of under-valuing running backs and making them an afterthought seems to be working in the opposite direction over the past few seasons. We’ve seen the successful investment in top-flight prospects like Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs that have returned promise and the free-agency success of Josh Jacobs in Green Bay and Derrick Henry in Baltimore that is pushing the envelope forward for these types of investments. Something we didn’t see much of four years ago.
All of which brings us to Nick Chubb and the Browns dilemma as they rebuild their own running back room.
