Saturday Prospect Spotlight: Alabama's Next Quarterback Prospect
Ty Simpson is working his way up draft boards with consistent NFL throws.

Another Saturday and a full slate of college football action. More opportunities for the draft class to continue to prove themselves and there are some good games on the slate as well. We get a Big XII battle in Cincinnati as the Bearcats take on undefeated Iowa State. Minnesota comes to Columbus to take on No.1 Ohio State. The Miami at Florida State game should have a feel straight from the 1990’s prime of the rivalry as well. Not the biggest weekend of games but enough to entertain us all day.
I’m drawn to the big SEC battle looming in Tuscaloosa.
Reminder: The Browns have TWO first round picks coming in this year's NFL Draft, each Saturday we will highlight a player worth watching with the Browns’ prospect preferences in mind! Obviously we will focus on the highest-ranked prospects this year because the Browns could have a wide range of outcomes for their pick, but we will expand beyond that scope at times.
It will be impossible to think about the 2026 Cleveland Browns without thinking about who their next quarterback selection could be so that will be a consistent theme of these spotlights throughout the year, but I promise we will branch out in other ways as well.
As I noted above, we are focused on the Crimson Tide hosting Vanderbilt this week and it’s another chance for quarterback Ty Simpson to shine and keep bolstering his draft stock — which is on the rise of late.
History
Simpson hails from Martin, Tennessee where he went to Westview High School. He was named the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year his senior season leading Westview to the Tennessee 2A State Championship. He ended the recrutiing cycle as a Five Star prospect and chose Alabama over offers from Clemson, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.
He enrolled early at Alabama in 2022 but redshirted his first year at the school. He then served as the backup to Bryce Young and Jalen Milroe over the first three seasons of his career before winning the role this season.
