Saturday Prospect Spotlight: Boise State's Bell Cow
The Browns might finally turn to running back in the draft with a premium pick and if they do, this is the name to watch.
We are just a week away from the best single weekend of college football games all season. This here Saturday isn’t loaded with much to draw us deep into the couch—but that won’t be a problem. It is filled with matchups that scream college football tradition but have one side failing to meet their end of the bargain. Think Florida State vs Clemson, and Auburn vs Georgia. There are also some of those new conference member matchups like UCLA vs Penn State, USC vs Minnesota, and Michigan vs Washington. The only ranked feature matchup is No. 9 Missouri at No. 25 Texas A&M. This is the week before the week, folks. That won’t stop us from watching these prospects, though.
Reminder: As the Browns make a return to the first round of this year's NFL Draft, each Saturday we will highlight a player worth watching with the Browns’ prospect preferences in mind!
Obviously we will focus on the highest-ranked prospects this year because the Browns could have a wide range of outcomes for their pick, but we hope they select the 32nd overall prospect following a Super Bowl win but we will expand beyond that scope at times.
Since the matchups are not the best, it does give us a chance to highlight a ridiculous running back prospect out in the Mountain West who is taking the FBS by storm once again. The young man’s name is Ashton Jeanty out at Boise State and he is the focus of today’s Saturday Prospect Spotlight.
History
Jeanty is originally from Jacksonville, Florida but played his high school football at Lone Star High School in Frisco, Texas. He played on both sides of the ball as a running back (rushing for 1,843 yards as a senior), wide receiver, defensive end, outside linebacker, and safety. He did a little bit of everything.
He was a four star recruit according to 247Sports and three-star at ESPN and hovered around the 25th rank for the running back position across the country. He chose Boise State over offers from lower-tier Power-Five teams like Cal and Kansas.
Jeanty ended up with several awards in 2023 including First Team All-American cross several publicaitons, Academic All-Mountain West, and more.
