Saturday Prospect Spotlight: The Next Buckeye In Line
The Browns have to consider wide receiver with one of their premier picks in 2026 and this is a name to know.

We’re in the stretch of the college football season where the teams that matter start to separate and the pretenders fold in unexpected ways. We saw that happen last night as Louisville went into Miami and upset the No. 2 Hurricanes to throw the top of the AP poll in a frenzy. Then Minnesota blowing out No. 25 Nebraska. We get some real tests today as Alabama hosts Tennessee, Ole Miss travels to Georgia, LSU visits Vanderbilt, and USC goes East to Notre Dame. It’s one of those weekends we just love as college football fans. Buckle up and enjoy the entertainment because I have a feeling it’s about to get wild today.
Reminder: The Browns have TWO first round picks coming in this year's NFL Draft, each Saturday we will highlight a player worth watching with the Browns’ prospect preferences in mind! Obviously we will focus on the highest-ranked prospects this year because the Browns could have a wide range of outcomes for their pick, but we will expand beyond that scope at times.
It will be impossible to think about the 2026 Cleveland Browns without thinking about who their next quarterback selection could be so that will be a consistent theme of these spotlights throughout the year, but I promise we will branch out in other ways as well.
Today’s highlighted prospect isn’t in any of those elite games, the No. 2 Buckeyes travel to Madison to face a struggling Wisconsin program, but we’re focused on improving wide receiver play and it comes in the form of Carnell Tate. The second name on the Buckeyes wide receiver depth chart but destined to be their next first round pick.
History
Tate is from Chicago and spent his time there playing his first two high school season at Marist High School. He then transferred to IMG Academy in Florida where he was rated a five-star player in the 2023 class. He chose Ohio State over LSU, Tennessee, and Alabama. He found the field in 13 games during his true freshman season in a loaded wide receiver room and then found a role his sophomore year starting outside opposite Jeremiah Smith.
