Saturday Prospect Spotlight: Tuscaloosa's Dual-Threat
The idea of pursuing a dual-threat quarterback this unique is always tempting.
Outside of the B1G marquee matchup in Columbus it’s a quiet day in college football at the top. The Big XII’s wide open battle has a couple quality games at 3:30PM with the conference’s fate still on the line as No. 14 BYU travels to No. 21 Arizona State and No. 16 Colorado faces Kansas inside Arrowhead. Those are fun battles but for today’s session I’ll be watching today’s focus player, Jalen Milroe, closely as Alabama travels to Norman to take on Oklahoma. The game isn’t big on scale as OU has disappointed this season but their defense is still playing well and it will be a good test for Milroe and the Alabama offense.
Reminder: As the Browns make a return to the first round of this year's NFL Draft, each Saturday we will highlight a player worth watching with the Browns’ prospect preferences in mind!
Obviously we will focus on the highest-ranked prospects this year because the Browns are trending in the direction of a Top-10 pick and perhaps even higher. They will have an important, franchise-altering, decision to make.
The future of Saturday Spotlight is about solving the big decision the Browns will have to make with their Top-10 pick looming so we have to discuss the best available options at quarterback thoroughly. Today has us keying in on the best dual-threat available come late April.
History
Milroe is a Texas kid as he played at Tompkins High School in Katy. His size and traits at the position led to big time offers across the country and originally he committed to Texas before eventually switching to Alabama late in the process. He was a consensus four-star prospect and a fringe Top-10 quarterback in the loaded 2021 recruiting class.
Milroe was Second-Team All-SEC in 2023.
