The Browns Are Still In The Wide Receiver Market
For this year, it’s Amari Cooper’s show. But next year, the Browns are chasing big names in the wide receiver market.
I’ve been talking about the 2025 wide receiver free agent class for a while now. There was such an influx of receiver talent in the 2020 and 2021 NFL drafts that, while many players will re-sign with their original teams, some top end talent will become available, via trade or free agency. It’s just a numbers game.
No one plays those numbers games better than Andrew Berry. He is looking at the same information that I am (better ones, I’m sure) and it indicates that one or more wide receivers that are widely considered to be top-15 at the position in the league will be on the market for the right price..
We’ve already seen the first ripples of this, as Brandon Aiyuk and CeeDee Lamb are currently advocating for new contracts in San Francisco and Dallas respectively. We also know Tee Higgins isn’t going to get a new deal in Cincinnati. Mike Brown recently said, “You can’t just pay people willy nilly.” Not much reading between the lines to be done there.
