The Opening Drive 11/27: Happy Thanksgiving From the Browns Film Breakdown Family
Nostalgia, Black Friday, and all the carbs on this lovely holiday.
Welcome in and Happy Thanksgiving to all of you out there. I don’t know if you feel the same way I do, but when you get to this specific holiday it really makes me stop and reminisce. Think about the family you spend time with, the people who matter most, and just the space we currently occupy. It’s tough to avoid taking things for granted, but this is the perfect holiday to stop and do just that. Put the phone down, engage with those around you, and laugh and smile. I hope you get that experience today.
This is the first Thanksgiving I have had without my father here and it will be challenging in many ways. He loved this time of year, and I mean he LOVED it. The food, the football, the tradition. Getting to watch Ohio State vs Michigan a few days later, all of it. But he sure did also love Thanksgiving Day football — perhaps sleeping through an afternoon clunker of a game, but he loved it nonetheless. And football on this day will always make me think of Summerall and Madden.
On this holiday we are also excited to offer you all a chance to get into the Browns Film Breakdown world with a full subscription at a great price if you’ve not done so already, but also, if you are looking for the right gift for those Browns fans in your life, this is it. Opening Drive 11/25: Things I Think I Know About The Browns Week 13
Always love to highlight when the Browns get active in the community and they did just that this week. “Browns players, alumni and staff along with members of Stripes United — comprised of coaches’ and players’ significant others— and Sugardale representatives were at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank assisting neighbors in shopping for free Thanksgiving food ahead of the holiday. The Browns have partnered with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank to package and distribute food before Thanksgiving since 2006, marking the 20th year of the event.”
It’s great to watch the rookies stay connected and perform the services as a group in this event. “The Browns 2025 rookie class took on different roles throughout the event. RB Dylan Sampson was among those who helped neighbors with their shopping for Thanksgiving items around the Greater Cleveland Food Bank Community Resource Center. DT Mason Graham and QB Dillon Gabriel assisted with loading cars with the groceries. QB Shedeur Sanders and DT Adin Huntington handed out turkey and ham at the checkout lane.”
On the way out, I got to thinking about the last time the Browns were on your television for Thanksgiving and the result is the 1989 season — the last time the Browns won the division. Here are the highlights from that close 13-10 loss in Detroit. Barry Sanders was something else that day. Would be fun to see the Browns back on this stage someday.
Have a great family-filled day with your loved ones and safe travels. We will catch you tomorrow.
