I was a baker guy and was hyped when the browns drafted him. The one that really upset me when I was kid was taking Tim Couch over Donovan McNabb..

These revisits of past drafts are always a quick road to madness !! I remember the buzz about him being able to throw 70yds through a brick wall, but also comments that he couldn't hit a barn door. Baker also made comments that he was the guy to turn Cleveland around. I just don't think we would have had the patience with him. But great to watch now.

Every damn day! Why take the cocky squirt when you have the big, athletic, fast kid who can throw it 70 yards or through a brick wall and appeared to have the attitude to do what he needed to do. You can teach accuracy and footwork and other things needed to succeed. You cannot teach big fast athletic and a cannon arm. My wife and I screamed at the TV when they picked him.

I was one of the folks who beat the drum for Josh Allen over Baker Mayfield. Was he raw coming out of Wyoming? Yes. But, he was the prototypical QB for Cleveland football, especially on the lakefront. It was simply a projection that he would become what he became, sure. But I wanted that over a shorter QB (Baker) or Sam Darnold. You could've even traded back. Was he worth #1 overall? Maybe not, but he went 7th, so he wouldn't have been much of a reach either.
