As the Browns work through the summer months it can be a challenge to understand the full scope of practices. The media is only allowed on-site for one of each three-day session and then the team will place several clips of moments from the practices for the public to consume. What I try to do is find the common trends among those I trust and the clips I am seeing. What has clearly stood out is how well the Browns’ two young wide receivers are playing when given their opportunities.

The current wide receiver room is jam-packed with numbers. The Browns are currently carrying 11 on the roster and that means bodies going in and out of reps with the first, second, and third team. The pecking order this time of year is usually built on league longevity so the KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston pairing isn’t locked in with the first-team full time but that is changing — and changing quickly.

From everything I have watched and read the duo has been electrifying through the first two sessions with veterans on-site and they are standing out in a way the team was hoping would be the case right away.

Todd Monken was visibly excited about Boston after OTAs on Wednesday, saying: “That was awesome, wasn’t it? Wasn’t that cool? I mean, I know I’m an offensive head coach, but hell, you know, you get a draft pick and it’s on one of the most talented guys in the league. So, it’s encouraging, right? That’s what you want to see. You want to see your guys, especially some of your younger draft picks, make some of those plays.” Despite his excitement, Monken acknowledged that Boston still has some adjustments to make at the NFL level but I can tell you this route is everything you want to see.
