Jared Verse won Defensive Rookie of the Year with one move. That’s not hyperbole — it’s essentially a statistical fact.

In his rookie season, Verse posted a 64.7% bull rush rate and a 69.1% power move rate, both of which led the entire NFL according to analyst James Foster, who charted edge rusher move rates in 2024. Verse led all NFL edge rushers in total pressures with 89.

That’s a remarkable foundation and one that Verse expanded in his second season, which we will get to later, but the success with this primary move was remarkable and has maintained well across two seasons.
