As you all know, I have been preaching about the fit for KC Concepcion in the Browns structure well before the draft. When they hired Todd Monken the fit for his approach — proven via work with Zay Flowers and Ladd McConkey — was seamless for me. The manufactured touches, the ability to win on three levels inside Monken’s preferred route concepts, and just his general play-making in the open field. Seamless fit in just about every way.
Well, I needed to put my money where my mouth is. Outside of telling you guys to place money on his +2000 Offensive Rookie of the Year on FanDuel, I also needed more exposure to the rookie receiver. Fair warining: this is a boring topic for some of you. I am going to talk fantasy football but it all ties together. I promise.
If the main dynasty league I operate I have an older team and one that has been very successful. We have two straight titles and we’re sitting comfortably. However, I wanted more youth on the roster. I traded away Ceedee Lamb hoping Concepcion would fall to the 8th pick but he was gone. I was crushed. I took Makai Lemon out of USC now with the Eagles and Omar Cooper (another player I liked in the class) out of Indiana and now with the Jets. But I couldn’t get out of my mind that I needed Concepcion and my time spent watching camp and his preseason game in Chicago pushed me over the edge.
Yesterday was another notch in my belief belt as he dominated portions of the sessions against the Bills. This catch on a seam ball splitting Cover-2 and going up over the MIKE linebacker was special. Another glimpse of what he can do and how easy the game is coming to him early.
