We can all agree that things did NOT go as planned last weekend. Our Cleveland Browns laid an egg and we were left to sort out the pieces. Whenever that happens, though, it will work in Browns Film Breakdown’s favor because we can cover it better than anyone else in the market. The schemes, the performances, the decisions, all of it. It’s fully comprehensive here and that will never change no matter the circumstances.
We have covered both sides of the ball completely with a look forward on how things can get rectified in the coming weeks. And, well, if they do not get rectified this could be rougher season than we anticipated. We finally made it. Yep, it’s gameday everyone. Not the fake preseason variety, I mean the real thing.
Following the loss to the Cowboys, I wrote about the Browns issues in Week 1 and why it is too early to panic, but also there are serious problems that need to be solved quickly before Week 2.
The Sun Still Rose This Morning, But The Browns Have Major Problems To Solve
There are plenty of worthwhile cliches for this scenario. The types that truthfully tell us that no season is defined by one week, and certainly not by the season’s first game. There’s solace to be found in those words. And the best part is that they’re true. The sun still rose this morning, we still get to go about our daily life, and the Browns will return to our television next weekend with a real shot to go to 1-1 and make this a distant memory.
Andrew Spayde covered the illusion of the Browns defense in Week 1 and how their first half performance highlights how they have to be as dominant as any defense in the league in order for the Browns to win games in the early schedule.
Week 1 Proves Browns Defense Must Drive Team Success
After the game on Sunday, the Browns offense has received the lion’s share of criticism from fans and media. The team appears to be no closer to getting consistent play from Deshaun Watson and the offense struggled mightily as a result. It feels obvious now that the Browns will need elite defensive performances to lift the team up early in the season until the offense gets figured out, one way or the other.
