The Opening Drive 11/11: Quinshon Judkins Work Against Jets Deserves Our Attention
While not a big box score game, Judkins put on a display of advanced running.

While the Browns collective continues to struggle, there are individuals who are shining as worth our spotlight. Today we hit on Quinshon Judkins, who is among the league’s better running backs quickly into his career. He is the mix of power, burst, and elusiveness I hoped he would be coming out of Ohio State and on Sunday he was at his best,
The Browns offensive staff has to be doing everything in their power to find the best ways to get him the football. Offensive line coach Mike Bloomgren discussed how the staff went about this thought process during the bye week. “You know, it was awesome to have the bye week and to go back. I think before you can really talk about where you’re going, you better study where you’ve been, and what was good and what wasn’t. And so, I think we have an identification of schemes that Q runs really well and that we block really well, and we’re going to lean into those heavily.
Praise for Judkins can be found all over the organization and rightfully so with his performances this year and the burning drive he has to be his best version. Kevin Stefanski noted: “If you block it up well for Quinshon, he’s gonna make a lot of yards. He’s a young player that we think very highly of, but I think he will only get better.””

Opening Drive 11/8: DePodesta’s Departure Marks the End of a Divisive Era
On Sunday in New York, Judkins was at his best. You can see him getting better each week at identifying the issues in the second level and then making appropriate cuts to get through for yards. He’s grown more adept at taking duo schemes, pressing one direction to get the linebacker to commit, and then making the appropriate cut. He’s also finding more patience for cutback lanes and allowing more schemes to unfold. There might have only been 75 yards on 22 carries but he earned every inch as the Jets played a sound game in run fits. These are big boy runs, not those that bust open from defense breakdown for easy yards. I put together his best efforts with scheme notes on each from the full offensive film room posted yesterday.
