It was a lovely evening at the NFL Awards Ceremony as the Browns had their two heavy favorites land the hardware they rightfully deserved. Between Myles Garrett and Carson Schwesinger they received 90 of the 100 First Place votes on the night. There was little doubt about Garrett, who did his round on Late Night Television, but Schwesinger had some doubt creep in late as the odds shifted.

They had a historic night and now the awards on the defensive side of the ball put them in rarified air. Teams with the Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year in the same season don’t happen often.

The Browns hope this season on defense was the start of a strong stretch of play as the offense catches up. Schwesinger will anchor the middle of the group and Garrett will continue to be the best at his dynamic position for years to come. It was great to see the NFL recognize that team wins don’t determine who deserves awards. Stellar play on one side of the ball should always be recognized.

Later today I will be dropping my first film room on how Todd Monken approaches offense. It will start with a first phase looking at what he was doing well in his final season at Georgia, the 2022 National Championship season, where he had a set of elite tight ends and a dynamic receiver. Here’s a look at his most effective formations.
